Outreach Ministries

This is our heart. Our God given purpose. To offer God's love and mercy without judgement.

'Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,'  Romans 15:5

Called-to-Care Outreach Ministries

  • Free Meal Sunday: We prepare and serve 50 take-out meals for anyone who would care for one. This program initiative was started by our pastor the Fall of 2021.  It takes place on the 2nd Sunday of the month (except in April) from Noon to 2pm.  We offer these meals to everyone. It is a free community offering. We see new people each month. During the holidays we served up to 80 meals. We advertise in the Bedford Gazette, our calendar and on our Facebook page.

  • Fill-the-Gap Distribution:  We fill our bags to the brim with household supplies, such as toiletries, dish soap, paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.  Started in 2021 along with our Free Meal, this much appreciated donation is offered to those in our community every 2-3 months depending on the items being collected. This free offering is on a first come first serve basis and is advertised in the Bedford Gazette, our Facebook page and on our calendar.

Community Prayer

  • Prayer in the Sanctuary:  During our normal office hours, 9am-1pm on Wednesdays our church is open to anyone...parishioners, neighbors of the community, vacationers and other travelers of sorts. We offer a quiet place to pray or if you need someone to talk with or pray with, our pastor is readily available.  Paused between Advent and Easter

  • Prayer Circle: 1pm Wednesdays!! Come out and pray. Pray for your community, your nation, the world, your relatives, your friends and foes. Praying for others offers hope, lifts spirits. Praying with others brings normalcy to our lives, comfort in commonality. We pray in front of our church so all will know they are welcomed, and that God exists in this community.  Paused during colder months.

Community Bible Study

  • Bible Study: This group is open to the public but in general is attended by the parishioners. The preferred form of study is through the use of each individual's bible of choice and bible commentaries. Our pastor leads many studies as well as volunteers from the group. New King James Version, New International Version, and Good News bibles tend to be the bibles of choice.  Days and times vary throughout the seasons of the year. Topic suggestions are always welcomed. This is a very welcoming, thoughtful group with thoughts and ideas and concerns that can be quite the eye-opener.

Caring Ministries

  • Care and Concern Committee:  This special committee consists of a team of caring individuals who assist the pastor in offering visits and support to parishioners and at times those at the request of the community. Some members make friendly phone calls and send cards while others visit folks in hospitals, care facilities, or homes bearing a good meal and a cheerful heart.  When requested an elder can accompany a visit to administer holy communion. All members respect the confidentiality this ministry requires.

  • Prayer Shawl Ministry:  Members of our congregation knit or crochet soft, warm, beautiful prayer shawls to be offered to individuals in times of need. These shawls are given as a tangible expression of this congregation's support and healing ministry.  We welcome anyone who wishes to make a shawl and if needed there are instructions available.  A modest donation is requested when taking a shawl in order to replenish the yarn supply.
